Current directors of FTSE and large private organisations, our mentors have substantial experience of both executive and non-executive life. Collectively, they have been on the boards of 60 FTSE companies as well as regulators, private equity organisations, asset management companies, pension schemes and charities.
Nina Bibby
A career spent in customer-centric and strategic leadership roles, Nina is Consumer Director at Telefonica UK. She was previously Global Chief Marketing Officer at Barclaycard, SBP Global Brand Management at InterContinental Hotels Group and spent nearly a decade at Diageo. She started her career in management consultancy. She is also a member of WACL (Women in Advertising and Communications London) and the Executive Committee of Insead Alumni Association’s Women’s Network.

Val Gooding
Val spent 10 years as Chief Executive of Bupa after a 20-year career in various senior roles at British Airways. She has regularly featured in Fortune’s global 50 most powerful business women and has earned numerous industry accolades including the CBI’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. She was awarded a CBE for services to business in 2002. She holds honorary doctorates from the universities of Bournemouth, Middlesex, Cranfield and Warwick. She is a Trustee of Rose Theatre.

Former Chief Executive of Talaris, an international cash management business, she led a Carlyle-backed buy-out from De La Rue. Previously she was President of Sequoia Voting Systems, Customer Services Director of Axa Insurance and held several senior positions at HSBC.

David Grigson
With more than 25 years on public company boards, David was most notably the Group Finance Director at Emap from 1989 to 2000 and Chief Financial Officer at Reuters from 2000 to 2008. He was the first external appointee to the Reuters board in its 150-year history. He is on the board of the Dolma Fund, which has raised $40m to invest in projects in Nepal. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Jane Lighting
Jane has more than 20 years’ experience in the TV industry, most notably as Chief Executive of Channel 5 and as Chief Executive of Flextech (Virgin Media). She was previously an independent programme sales and marketing entrepreneur. She sold her business to Flextech. She is a member of the British Screen Advisory Council and chairs the audit committee for the Royal Television Society.

Ruth Markland
During a distinguished legal career, Ruth was a partner at Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer from 1983 to 2003, promoted in the latter years to Managing Partner of the Asia operation. She was a Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Her portfolio career has spanned software, construction, finance and professional services. She is on the supervisory board of Arcadis.

Anne Minto
A qualified lawyer, Anne worked in a variety of senior commercial roles for Shell Exploration and Production, ultimately managing the strategic planning and commercial marketing of gas from shell’s North Sea platforms. She was Deputy Director General of the Engineering Employers Federation for five years before being appointed Group Human Resources Director at Smiths Group. She joined Centrica in 2002 and chaired its pension schemes. She is a trustee of the University of Aberdeen Development Trust.

Kathleen O’Donovan
Trained as a chartered accountant, Kathleen was the youngest-ever CFO of a FTSE 100 company at the age of 34. She was CFO of BTR and Invensys. She has served as a Director on the Court of the Bank of England. She is co-chair of International Rescue Committee UK, a charity supporting conflict refugees.

Helen Owers
Helen has extensive international experience in the media sector. She started her career in publishing before becoming a media and telecoms strategy consultant at Gemini Consulting. She spent more than 10 years at Thomson Reuters, rising to Chief Operating Officer and leaving in 2012 to pursue a plural career.

Tim Score
Tim has extensive experience of the technology sector, having served as Chief Financial Officer of ARM Holdings, the leading semiconductor IP company, for 13 years. He retired in 2015. His early career was spent in senior finance roles with Rebus Group, William Baird and BTR among others.

Gillian Sheldon
An experience banker, Gillian is a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, which she joined in 1998 when BZW was acquired. Previously she worked corporate finance at NM Rothschild & Sons. Her client coverage is geared towards media, telecoms and gaming. She is a Trustee of BBC Children in Need.

Genevieve has extensive international experience in technology and commercial roles, latterly as Chief Information and Product Officer at Pearson. She began her career in sales for Random House Publishing Group. She is an advisor to Lego Education, Great Fridays and Educational App Store.

Julia Wilson
Julia is Group Finance Director at 3i and is a member of its executive and investment committees. A qualified accountant, she was previously held senior tax and corporate finance roles at Cable & Wireless. She is a member of the ICAEW (ACA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

David Gregson
David is Chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association, and a Director of the London Legacy Development Corporation which is transforming the Olympic Park following the 2012 Games. He is also a member of the Board of the Sutton Trust, promoting social mobility through education. During his career, David has been Director or Chairman of over thirty companies and charities. Most recently he was Chairman of CGL, the UK’s largest social and health care charity, and of Karmarama, the UK’s leading independent creative agency. Previously, David was a co-founder and Chairman of Phoenix Equity Partners, a leading UK mid-market private equity business. David has an MBA from Manchester Business School and a degree in Mathematics and Physics from Cambridge University.

Jennifer Duvalier
Jennifer, also known as Jenny, served as Executive Vice President of People at ARM Holdings plc for four years. Since then she has been reconnecting with life outside the technology industry, and now holds Non-Executive Director positions at Guardian Media Group plc and Mitie Group plc. Jennifer has sustained a track record of defining and delivering high impact agile people and culture strategies, and has broad experience in managing stakeholders across Main Board, Executive Committee and Divisional Executives. Also a Member of Council of the Royal College of Art where she chairs the People Committee, Jennifer has an MA from the University of Oxford in English and French.
